Corporal Richard Clark #3299
Beginning in September 2011 through December 2019, I was assigned to District III C.O.P.S (Community Oriented Policing Services), where I was tasked with bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community in Seat Pleasant/Capitol Heights. During my time in George Sector C.O.P.S., I’ve built relationships with several important community leaders that have led to a successful partnership with Prince Georges County Police. Interacting with the children in the community has been paramount during my time as well. I’ve created a program to help children (Grades 4th-12th) understand their interactions with law enforcement as well as how we can improve them (Trading Places). Being able to educate our youth through role play and positive interaction will continue to bridge the gap between our youth and PGPD. From December 2019 to May 2022, I was previously assigned to Division VIII C.O.P.S. in the Community Engagement Unit. From May 2022-Present, I am assigned to the Community Action Team (C.A.T.). In this unit, we are a proactive enforcement unit that targets criminals involved in narcotic and illegal firearm(s) crimes. We work in conjunction with numerous units including our federal partners at the United States Attorney’s office.
Throughout my law enforcement career, I’ve attended various types of illegal narcotic training where I was able to develop my skills for successfully acquiring confidential informants, conducting effective knock and talks and arresting several dangerous individuals from the streets of Prince Georges County.
Throughout my time assigned to C.O.P.S. and C.A.T., I’ve learned a wealth of information, gained a tremendous amount of experience, and developed a deeper understanding of the organization and operation of the police department.
